Discovered in the 1970s by Chinese scientist Tu Youyou, who later won the Nobel Prize for her work, dihydroartemisinin has become a crucial component in the global fight against malaria.

The drug works by rapidly killing the malaria parasites in the blood, effectively reducing the parasite load and alleviating symptoms.
